Prayer

Prayer

Prayer is one of the most important themes that we will talk about through this entire course. Unlike the world, we must remain dependent on God’s wisdom to get us through ALL things. After all, the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it (Proverbs 24:1), so why not come to Him for guidance on how to navigate the business marketplace that He allowed to be created in the beginning.

Though the business world today has tried to excommunicate God from its operations, Deuteronomy 8:18 says that it is God who gives us the ability to gain wealth. Throughout this course and beyond, it is absolutely imperative that we stay rooted in the Truth of Christ which is found in His Word and His presence. Nothing makes sense without Him.

Setting aside time to pray

Whether you have 5 minutes or 1 hour, it will be imperative to set aside time daily to pray and communicate with your Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. You can set a timer and play calming Christian music while praying or have complete silence, this is up to you but we need to have a dedicated time and space for the Lord to fill us up daily and give us our daily bread.

Again, if we look to how the world operates, there is very little time to be recharged or refueled with the right things as an entrepreneur, therefore, this leaves room for the enemy to trample the little success that is able to be generated through these means — through burnout, lack of new motivation, lack of new ideas and creativity, and overall low company morale. The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10) and we don’t get to reap the benefits of the Lord without coming to the Lord. This does not have to be fancy nor in public but Jesus gives instructions for what to pray and what type of environment we set up to commune with the Father.

Prayer Ideas + Environment

  • Go into your room and close the door
    • But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret [place;] and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:6
  • Jesus often withdrew to lonely places
    • So He Himself [often] withdrew into the wilderness and prayed Luke 5:16
  • The Lord’s prayer
    • In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6: 9-13
