Assignment: Read the entire chapter of Isaiah 59 and in your notebook or Bible, write down what stood out to you.
One Scripture that I want to highlight is:
- But your iniquities have separated; you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you,so that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:2 NIV
God cannot forgive you if you do not forgive others and we see that here in the below Scriptures:
- “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”Matthew 6:15 NKJV
- For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6:14 NKJV
- “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32 NKJV
- ““Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”Luke 6:37 NKJV
- Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.””Matthew 18:21-35 NKJV
Holding onto all of that anger and that misery is actually binding you and holding you back from being all that God has called you to be.
This also allows for there to be a foothold where the enemy can ruin both your personal and professional life and we don’t want that.
Whatever they did. Let it go.
One thing that I saw recently on TikTok is that when someone offends you, forgive them quickly. They are already in torment.
Just this past weekend, I ran into someone who I knew a while back and with just one glance this person made me feel like I wasn’t worthy and all that. Not true! I’m a daughter of the most high King.
Anyway, we have to choose to forgive because the people that hurt us the most are already being tormented day and night lest they submit it to Jesus.
Let yourself be justified by God. Jesus already did the hard work for us.
- “Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”Romans 8:30 NKJV
God commands us to love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love others.
- “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.””Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV
Prayer Points:
- Lord, I thank you for forgiving me and I declare that I forgive (list everyone by name that you may need to forgive). You can start with those closest to you and work your way through all friendships, bosses, coworkers, acquaintances, other drivers in traffic, strangers, pastors, church members, neighbors, those in your community, your government, your officials, those in the world, God, yourself.
- you read that correctly that you want to forgive God because though He never did anything against you, you may be holding bitterness or resentment towards Him for not doing the things that you desired.
- You also want to forgive yourself and let go of the foolish ways of your past. There’s no condemnation for those who live in Christ Jesus and so if God forgot about it, you should too.
- Be lead by the Holy Spirit when it comes to who you should forgive and everything that you should for forgive them for.
